Invisalign Straighteners VS. Braces

Orthodontic alignment does not just yield cosmetic benefits, but also makes for a healthier mouth. Invisalign aligners and braces are both methods of orthodontic treatment. While they offer two very different approaches to alignment, they both work similarly to enhance your smile along with your oral wellbeing.

Sunrise Smile Design proudly offers Invisalign clear braces to their Phoenix patients.

WHAT ARE INVISALIGN CLEAR BRACES?

Invisalign clear braces were introduced in 2000 as an alternative to traditional braces. One of the most appealing benefits to Invisalign aligners for those seeking orthodontic realignment is that they’re practically invisible. Compared with metal brackets, your treatment will seem discreet.

Instead of traditional brackets connected to an archwire, Invisalign clear straighteners utilize aligner trays personally designed to fit your teeth. Invisalign plastic is comfortable and smooth, so it won’t irritate your gums quite as much as conventional brackets.

With Invisalign aligners you’ll get a new set of aligner trays every two weeks as your teeth shift into place. With each new set of aligners, Sunrise Smile Design will work with you personally to customize your progress.

COMPARING INVISALIGN ALIGNERS TO BRACES

Besides the cosmetic differences, there are several things you should consider before deciding between braces and Invisalign aligners. While Invisalign clear braces are removable, they do come with some added maintenance. When eating or drinking anything except water, you need to take out your Invisalign trays. You also need to brush your teeth after every meal to ensure that the trays stay clear.

However, with the removable Invisalign clear trays, you won’t have to avoid certain foods like popcorn and candy for the whole duration of your treatment like you would with traditional braces.

Invisalign clear braces can bring some discomfort as teeth align, but for the most part patients find that they are more comfortable than conventional braces.

One of the greatest drawbacks of Invisalign aligners is that they do not correct the same scope of orthodontic complications as conventional braces. For example if you have back tooth bite issues, or if your canines and premolars are in need of rotation, Invisalign aligner trays wouldn’t be enough. However, Invisalign clear braces do work for most minor corrections.

Each treatment method has certain limitations that your dentist will be able to identify based on your orthodontic situation. If you are indeed a candidate for Invisalign clear braces, you can receive treatment with Dr. Campbell!
